Air/Moisture Barriers at Movement Joints

In this article by John Chamberlin in The Construction Specifier, he discusses the needs of the moisture barrier and air barrier in accounting for the movement at building interfaces.  The use of fluid applied membranes such as Dupont's Tyvek Fluid Applied WB have begun to incorporate the weather barrier and air barrier into the same product.  This combination can provide unique challenges at movement locations such as floor lines of buildings.  In The Construction Specifier article, Mr. Chamberlin discusses self-adhered membranes, silicone sealants, and elastomeric core fabrics.  See the link below for the full article.
